“GUTS,” Yuliya Lanina’s exhibit at the St. Edward’s University’s Fine Arts Gallery, Austin, comprises recent ink drawings on paper and an animation entitled “Gefilte Fish” with music composition by Sam Lipman.
Lanina’s animation and works on paper draw parallels between then and now, looking at Ukraine’s current tragedy through the lens of a second-generation WWII survivor. The works in this exhibition constitute a plea to break the pattern of silence and hurt.
