Butcher Bear's "In The Park" with Dallas Acid/Laraaji, DRB-ADB, Theo Love, Chicken George + more

On Sunday September 23^rd, Butcher Bear will bring a brand new and completely free live music experience to Givens Park with free food provided by Rollin’ Smoke BBQ.  This show’s purpose is to get everyone out of the house on a Sunday and out to the park to eat some great food, dance, and listen to some incredible musicians performing hip-hop, oldies, breaks and a super secret and super awesome headliner, ALL FOR FREE; thanks to our sponsors: Church of the Friendly Ghost, Epistrophy Arts, Pushermania, Aural Canyon, Rolin’ Smoke BBQ, and Fusebox Festival.

Ben Webster aka Butch aka Butcher Bear aka Sampler & Son aka Jack’s Dad aka Sarah’s Husband, was born in Austin, TX descended from Cajuns. He’s one of the co-founders of the non-profit event collective, Exploded Drawing, books the club, The North Door and he owns and operates (iN)Sect Records.

*Dallas Acid with Laraaji* 

Dallas Acid have announced their first collaborative album with New Age icon Laraaji and sound healer/Reiki master Arji OceAnanda. Due out October 12th through Flying Moonlight, Arrive Without Leaving stems from a six-hour session at Brooklyn’s Vibromonk Studios. Dallas Acid arranged and edited the ensemble’s live recordings, which were loosely inspired by a special performance at National Sawdust—something they all hope to replicate and revisit at release shows in Dallas and Austin next month.

“[Making the record] was an out-of-body experience at times,” explains Dallas Acid, “and a journey through new worlds—a very peaceful journey full of surprises. It’s wonderful it was captured so beautifully; a once in a blue moon experience under an actual blue moon.”

“There seemed to be an instant and immediate ‘recognition’ of each other’s energies,” adds OceAnanda. “The resultant flow of ideas and sounds amongst us was effortless and inspired. The entire session felt blessed and blissed!”

DRB-ADB (Drumetrics, San Diego)

The Drumetrics are a very secret and mysterious drum collective from California that almost never performs live. They release instrumental deep funk and soul records on their own label and only use analogue equipment to play and capture their music.

Two of their members, DRB-ADB, (bass and drums) are the Drumetrics Collective back bone.  The Drum & Bass dynamic duo produced a *Live* one take EP.  This is a producers sampling dream of heavy drum & bass chops played by masters live.  From Deep Funk to Cinematic Down Tempo these two people are a force to enjoy best in-person.

Thelonious Love hails from Houston, where he cut his teeth on auditorium and theatrical stages. He has proven to be prolific in a variety of forms including songs, paintings, writings, dance, drama, photography, carpentry, crafts, love, and… Love. Since relocating to Austin, he has only gotten stronger as an artist, creating a unique, triangular melding of styles from Austin, Houston, and New Orleans. DJ Chicken George (DJCG) not only upholds the cultural legacy of the legendary DJ’s that came before him, he’s transformed the art form into a global brand. His unique Jazztronica! style perfectly blends many genres of music together with a hip-hop sensibility combined with his expansive taste and knowledge of music. A Jazztronica! Globetrotting Groove Merchant who resides in Austin, TX but is a music curator to the World. His style propels him to be a highly regarded and internationally acclaimed music force.

Hobo D is a founding member of the Applied Pressure DJ crew as well as a DJ about town.
