Women's Empowerment ART Show (EAST Stop #275)

Join Lys Santamaria in unveiling her exciting new art series of beaded women’s portraits. See Celia Cruz, Selena, Frida, Amy Winehouse & Josephine Baker – all made entirely of beads. Each day of the East Austin Studio Tours Santamaria be holding a live demonstration of her bead embroidery technique.

MORE ABOUT THE SERIES:
The Women’s Empowerment Series is a set of beaded portraits that reflects women of all ethnic and racial backgrounds. The root of this project will be based on women who have made significant contributions to the world, especially in the arts. Santamaria’s intention is to empower the diverse community of the city of Austin – to inspire, uplift and motivate others by showing them examples of people who have overcome racial, societal, and economical inequities and still made their dreams come true. Her hope is that by seeing these women, you will leave feeling inspired by their memory and empowered to make your dreams come true too.
