Rolling Ryot's The Extinction Project: Amphibians / Avians

A soundscape of endangered species’ mating calls rolling through lower East Austin neighborhoods followed by a concert in Oswaldo A.B. Cantu/Pan Am Park. Details available on the Rolling Ryot web site: http://www.rollingryot.net

We can no longer count on the once-predictable seasonal dawn and dusk choruses of frogs, toads and birds. Amphibian populations are decimated by disease and irregular spring rains. A lack of natural brush fires and ungulate grazing alters a habitat suited for a narrowly adapted species of charismatic bird.

This inaugural performance will feature compositions by local sound artists using field recordings of Texas amphibian and bird mating calls as raw material. The rolling fantastical soundscape
