A musical celebration of 100 years of women’s suffrage.
Through a diverse blend of current and historical songs, this concert features music that honors the struggle and the passing of the 19th amendment, giving women the right to vote. Songs include marches written by and for suffragettes in the late 19th century, art songs based on the words of Sojourner Truth, Eleanor Roosevelt and the deeds of the prophetess Miriam, as well as 21st century multi-layered pieces sung by women’s groups such as Artemesia.
