This year the ESB-MACC is teaming up with Frida Friday ATX to produce an incredible celebration of womxn inspired by the first feminist in the New World; Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz. This annual event will include artisans, entrepeneurs, authors, and musicians, along with an afternoon full of hands-on activities. ARTISAN MARKET:
Frida Friday ATX is a latinx founded, womxn of color centered, monthly marketplace and cultural space. For the first time, this carefully curated artisan market will be at the ESB-MACCfeatured at the 2019 La Mujer festival!
VISUAL ART:
Exhibitions “Con Cariño” by Tiffany Moreno and “El Muro y El Ocelote” by Yareth Fernandez will be on display in SZC and Community Galleries from April 5-June and the artists will both give gallery talks on their artistic process during La Mujer.
WORKSHOPS FOR ALL AGES:
Children’s activities include planter decorating and mask making by MACC Education, as well as a tortilla making demonstration with Priscilla Jerez aka “Tortilla Mami”, from Cool Beans.
SPECIAL GUESTS:
• Ire’re Lara Silva, celebrated author of recently released book Cuicacalli/House of Song, presents Canto de Mujer, a literary celebration with womxn authors
• Lourdes Perez, prolific singer-songwriter presents “VoxFem: Unearthing the Female Voice” showcasing women songwriters/composers and visual artists from each country and occupied/colonized territory in the world. VoxFem centers women of color artists, women performing original work, non-English languages and LBTQI artists. www.VoxFem.org
