Pt. Nishad Bakre is bringing to us gayaki of the Gwalior, Jaipur and Agra gharanas. Born in 1981, he began his music studies with his father, Shri. Sadashiv Bakre. Pt. Nishad Bakre is bringing to us gayaki of the Gwalior, Jaipur and Agra gharanas. Born in 1981, he began his music studies with his father, Shri. Sadashiv Bakre. Later he received his training under the guidance of Dr. Ram Deshpande, Pt. Dinkar Kaikini, Pt. Madhukar joshi, Dr. Arun Dravid and Pt. Ulhas Kashalkar.
Pt. Bakre is a recipient of the Kesarbai Kerkar scholarship of the NCPA (Mumbai), the Gyan Pravah Scholarship (Kolkata), the Yuva Puraskar of the Kanebua Pratishthan (Pune), Pt. K.G. Ginde Memorial Award (Mumbai), and recently Pt. Ram Marathe Award of the Municipal Corporation, Thane city. He has performed in different parts of India and has been acknowledged and appraised for his artistic prowess.
He will be accompanied by Shri. Abhay Datar on the Tabla. He started learning Tabla from his father Shri Prabhakar Datar. Later on he came under the tutelage of the noted Tabla player Pt. Suresh (Bhai) Gaitonde. He had a long association with the legendary vocalist Pandit Yashwant Bua Joshi of Gwalior Gharana through which he mastered the art of accompaniment. He has accompanied noted artists such as Pt. Babanrao Haldankar, Vidushi Shruti Sadolikar Kaatkar, Dr. Ram Deshpande, Vid. Devaki Pandit, Pt. Shounak Abhisheki ,Vid. Shashwati Mandal and Vid. Apoorva Gokhale. He performs regularly on All India Radio artist and Doordarshan, India national television channel. He is a dedicated faculty at Mumbai University\’s music department.
On the Harmonium, we have Shri. Anant Joshi. He received musical training under the guidance of his father Pt. Achyut Joshi and also from Pt. Vishwanath Kanhere. An economics graduate from University of Mumbai, he has also received the master degree from AKHIL BHARATIYA GANDHARV MAHAVIDYALAY MANDAL, MIRAJ. He has won many intercollegiate competition in India. He was awarded the Fellowship as an Outstanding Artist by the Culture Ministry of India in the Year 2011-2012, the Best music director award at Maharashtra Rajya Natys Mahotsav in 2015, Pt. Ram Marathe Rajya Yuva Purskar (2019). He is a graded artist in All India Radio and Doordarshan.
