Austin Girls' Choir Placement Auditions

Now that school’s back in session, Austin Girls’ Choir is also back to its regular schedule and welcoming new singers! Placement auditions are now being scheduled for girls age 8-18, beginner to advanced. Each singer is asked to share one song unaccompanied, and we’ll figure out best level and voicepart fit in the remainder of the audition. The choir is perfect for those girls for whom singing is almost synonymous with breathing, and for those who love the challenge of learning to sing in multiple parts! Some financial aid scholarships are available, and tuition discounts are offered to groups of 5 or more from individual schools, scout troops, music studios, or churches/temples.

Our ensemble for younger girls age 8-13 meets Tuesday and Thursday evenings, and includes skills sessions (vocal technique, ear training, basic note reading) for beginner and intermediate singers. Advanced singers age 12 and up practice Sunday afternoons 2-3:30, currently sharing some rehearsals and repertoire with a newly-forming women’s ensemble as both groups grow. All rehearsals are in the fellowship hall of Ascension Lutheran Church, 6420 Hart Lane.
