There are a lot of great pun competitions all over the US. Probably all over the world. But the O. Henry Museum Pun-Off World Championships have been around for 45 jears! it’s hard to imagine one more refined. For Texans, anyway.
The Austin Parks and Recreation Department’s Brush Square Museums, in collaboration with the Brush Square Museums Foundation, presents the 45th Annual O. Henry Museum Pun Off World Championships on October 8th, 11am-6pm, an internationally renowned spoken word competition focused on the art of the pun. Usually held behind the O. Punniest of Show Competition
Date: Saturday, October 8, 2022, approx. 12pm-2pm

32 contestants perform prepared 90 second pun routines for judges.
PunSlingers Competition
Date: Saturday, October 8, 2022, approx. 2:30pm-6pm
Place: Outside – Mexican American Cultural Center (MACC) (Map)
32 Contestants make spontaneous puns on a topic in five seconds against an opponent. Contestants advance through rounds until one PunSlinger wins it all!

Free Parking is available to guests attending the center’s programs, galleries and special events. A temporary parking pass is available in the main office. There is also metered street parking available.
