Comanche Elders bless an artwork honoring the last Comanche Chief Quanah Parker at Edward Rendon Sr. Park @ 1:30 pm, Sunday, November 3rd.
The Tempo 2019 project team of mosaic artist Jeff Grauzer, metal artist Courtney Bee Peterson and augmented reality producer Michael Mares Mendoza invite the community to share in a new blessing of the artwork “A Lord of the Plains, a Tribute to Quanah Parker” upon its 2nd installation commissioned by City of Austin’s Art in Public Places (AIPP) Program of the Cultural Arts Division, Economic Development Department at Edward Rendon Sr. Park.

The blessing will be conducted by Bronze Star recipient Ron Parker, Administrator to the Quanah Parker Society and great grandson to Quanah Parker. A National Sojourners Color Guard will conduct a presentation of the American and Texas flags prior to the blessing. The event will also feature the Wild Band Comanches drummer, singer and dancer. There will be several direct descendants of Quanah Parker in attendance. This event is free and open to the public.
