Harry Ransom Center

Considered one of the world's finest cultural archives, the Harry Ransom Center houses 30 million literary manuscripts, 1 million rare books, 5 million photographs, and over 100,000 visual artworks. Highlights include the Gutenberg Bible and the world's first photograph. The Center is used extensively for research and presents numerous exhibitions and events each year showcasing its collections.

      06/11/13- 08/04/13	"Contemporary Photographic Practice and the Archive" Harry Ransom Center "Contemporary Photographic Practice and the Archive" Presented by Harry Ransom Center at Harry Ransom Center June 11-August 4, 2013 This exhibition was created in cooperation with the Lakes Were Rivers collective, an Austin-based group of artists working in photography and video. Members of the collective created a body of work influenced in some way by the Ransom Center—its space, its purpose, its collections.
