Carver Museum & Cultural Center has the distinction of being the first African-American neighborhood museum in the state of Texas. The museum collects, preserves and exhibits artifacts documenting the history of African-Americans from Austin, Central Texas and beyond. It also promotes a climate of which African-American artists can be recognized and appreciated for their culturally diverse heritage.
