WHAT IS DREAMHACK AUSTIN?

DreamHack Austin is DreamHack’s second visit into America, again being hosted in Austin, Texas at the Austin Convention Center.

DreamHack is a meeting place for gamers, and the primary content is always centered around the massive LAN party. Gamers are able to bring their own gaming rigs along with their friends to set up for gaming nonstop for three days. Alongside this, visitors will be able to check out world-class esport tournaments happening over the weekend, such as Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, Starcraft II World Championship Series, and the Capcom Pro Tour Premier Event for Street Fighter V. There will also be a huge variety of other activities, including the DreamExpo, cosplay, panels, community events, and whatever else attendees may want to do!

In the spirit of Texas, this year’s DreamHack Austin will be even bigger and better! 

In addition to our larger LAN area and wider range of Esports Tournaments, the party won’t stop, because we’ll be open 24 hours for everyone, and we’ve packed in way more fun things to do! The all-new Main Stage will feature big music acts on Friday and Saturday night, as well as exciting events like a $2,500 cosplay contest, game shows, and even a UT vs A&M League of Legends grudge match!

All weekend long, we’ll have: console gaming, free play PC & console zone (no gear necessary), cosplay chess, $10k Magic the Gathering Tournament, questing challenges with rewards, gaming/tech/cosplay panels, 5v5 live archery tag (dodgeball with arrows), hackathon/game jam competition, virtual reality esports tournament, indie game demo zone, prize giveaways, extensive board game library, and way more!

ABOUT DREAMHACK

DreamHack started in November 1994 when Kenny “K2-ICE” Eklund and Martin “DH_admin” Öjes rented the local school cafeteria in the small city Malung, Sweden and invited their computer enthusiast friends to join them for a weekend of coding and hacking.

Today DreamHack Summer and DreamHack Winter are the world’s largest digital festivals and the indisputably largest LAN parties in the world, with over 26,000 visitors, 22,483 unique devices in the network each, and close to 10,000 visitors who enjoy DreamHack with their own computers. DreamHack also features world-class esports events, DreamExpo, cosplay and a celebration of all things Internet happening several times each year all around the world.
