Call for Choreographers to present “POP-UP performances”

National Dance Education Organization (NDEO)
Conference in San Antonio, TX November 12-14, 2017

NDEO is coming to Texas hosted by the Hyatt in Downtown San Antonio November 12-14, 2017 (Preconference sessions Saturday, November 11). . To highlight the diverse dance culture in central Texas, we are inviting regional choreographers to submit a completed dance to perform for our conference attendees. The selected dances will be presented during the afternoon lunch hour- two different “pop-up” works per-day.

Your company will arrive at the Hyatt Regency San Antonio the morning of your performance day; you may walk through your dance in the space at that time. Dances should be between 3 and 10 minutes in length.

Selected works should be:
• Completed professional dances able to adapt to a carpeted or concrete floor and no wings
• Original work by selected choreographer or company member

Dance forms may include, but not limited to
• World/Cultural dance
• Contemporary modern, jazz or ballet,
• Site-adapted structured improvisation/movement based performance art if choreographers want to use the Hyatt lobby or outside walkway in alternative ways.

Application Deadline is May 1st 2017, Notification of acceptance (and info) by May 10th

• An uploaded video (youtube or vimeo) of the dance that will be performed or a sample of newest work; include any necessary notes to accompany the video, include a link in the form.
Companies will get exposure through a variety of ways including, but not limited to, an App of your bio and website that is part of the conferences calendar of events.

The curators of the “pop-up” performances are members of the University of Texas Dance Department and San Antonio Dance Umbrella.
