Hyde Park Bar & Grill announces its latest Art Party on March 13, 2017, to celebrate the work of local artist Mike Etie.

Etie uses bold colors to depict striking landscapes, many of them from Hill Country and other locations around Texas and the American Southwest. His medium of choice is generally soft pastel, but he also uses other techniques, including painting and giclée, a form of computer-generated art. The artist states that he “strive[s] to capture the intensity of emotional response that describes the way one feels as he sees the sun move quickly at the beginning and end of each day,” highlighting the way sunlight affects a particular location at a given time, which will not necessarily be the same the following day. Etie’s work will be displayed on the restaurant’s “island” from March 11 through May 5.

The Art Party will take place from 5 PM to 7 PM at the Westgate Hyde Park Bar & Grill (4521 Westgate Boulevard, Austin). Guests will enjoy a complimentary appetizer buffet, and drinks will be available at Happy Hour prices. Hyde Park Bar & Grill is an Austin staple that will celebrate its 35th anniversary in 2017. Its two locations offer traditional, delicious comfort food items as well as salads, sandwiches, unique entrees, and more. Many items on the menu are vegetarian, vegan, or gluten-lite.
