This four-day, citywide, all-inclusive annual celebration of poets and poetry has grown to become “the largest non-juried poetry festival in the U.S.” It includes 30 live local readings, 5 open mics, 10 youth poetry events, two anthology readings, two poetry slams, a poetry all-nighter and a haiku death match. AIPF is the work of “heART” of volunteer-based local non-profit Austin Poets International, Inc.
All poets — every age, race, religion, gender, and orientation — are invited to register and perform at the annual Austin International Poetry Festival. The festival is an open celebration of poets and poetry, from stage poets to page poets, neophytes to poet laureates from all over the world. Join the celebration!
This project is supported in part by the Cultural Arts Division of the City of Austin Economic Development Department.
All readings are free. Those wishing to sign up, be listed, and read their poetry may register.
Registration fees are $40 with a $20 discount for College, Military, Retired, and Teacher. Those registering will also have access to workshops.
If you wish to read at an open mic, this is free. It even includes a midnight-to-dawn read.
