Based on a simple curatorial strategy, Friend of a Friend examines the associations and influences of contemporary artists who use drawing as their primary means of art-making. The intent is to foster dialogue, generate questions, and provide exposure to different perspectives.
Curator Roberto Jackson Harrington chose two artists and selected one artwork from each. In turn, those two artists each chose two other artists, selecting one artwork from each. The process repeated once more, ultimately creating two branches totaling fourteen artists from the initial two. Artists featured in this exhibition include Andrew Beincasa, Emily Belknap, David Crosland, Alyssa Dennis, Ryan Ebelt, Serra Victoria Bothwell Fels, Jonathan Herrera, Mike Huddleston, Stephanie Inagaki, Yujin Lee, Nicole Maloof, Devin Mawdsley, Dasha Shishkin, and Rachel Wolfson Smith.
