This beautiful, vibrant film, directed by Alexander Korda from a script by Marcel Pagnol, introduces us to the three characters whose intertwined lives and fortunes comprise Pagnol’s epochal Marseilles Trilogy. In a waterfront bar, Marius, son of the proprietor Cesar, pines after beautiful Fanny. When their love becomes a reality, life becomes much more complicated for all.

If you’re willing to walk three blocks or so, metered parking on the street is usually available if you head due north on Trinity. Metered parking is free on recognized holidays and Sundays. Parking meters are also free after 6pm Monday and Tuesday and after midnight Wednesday thru Saturday.
