Enter your homemade kite in the Kite Contest at the ABC Kite Festival on March 5 and win a trophy! All ages are welcome to compete in the Kite Fying Contest and it’s FREE. Held in Zilker Park on March 5, registration for the contest is 11 am to 2 pm, the contest starts at 1 pm.

Contest categories are:
50 yard dash (for kids 12 and under); Highest Angle Kite (youth and adult categories); Steadiest kite (youth and adult categories); Strongest Pulling Kite; Smallest Kite; Most Unusual Kite (youth and adult categories); and Largest Kite. There are also awards for the oldest and youngest persons competing in the contest. All kites entered in the contest must be homemade. Sponsored in 2017 by Holganix, the Kite Contest is managed by the Exchange Club of Austin who started the Kite Tournament in 1929 to spark creativity and the club still runs the contest today. Come join us in this 88 year old Austin tradition. Rain date is Sunday March 12.
