The picture book is a very unique and particular form — written to be read by adults but for children, written to be read aloud, written to be read again and again and please, please, please again!
How to crack the code and satisfy both the youngest audiences but also their caregivers? This class will give you a broad understanding of the picture book form–from purpose and structure to particular parameters in today’s marketplace–and will touch on everything from concept and rhyming books to classic story forms. There will be prompts to get you started and time for Q&A.
A note: You do not have to be an illustrator to take this class or to write for young people. You do have to be curious about and committed to the child’s sensibility, heart, and high expectations.
