“Introduction to Picture Books: Writing for Young Readers” with Liz Garton Scanlon

“Introduction to Picture Books: Writing for Young Readers” with Liz Garton Scanlon

Presented by Writers' League of Texas (WLT) at Online/Virtual Space

How to crack the code and satisfy both the youngest audiences but also their caregivers? This class will give you a broad understanding of the picture book form–from purpose and structure to particular parameters in today’s marketplace–and will touch on everything from concept and rhyming books to classic story forms. There will be prompts to get you started and time for Q&A.

A note: You do not have to be an illustrator to take this class or to write for young people. You do have to be curious about and committed to the child’s sensibility, heart, and high expectations.

TAKE THIS CLASS IF:

You’re writing or curious about writing for young people.
You have an idea for a picture book story you’ve been wanting to tell.
You’ve begun writing a children’s book and you’re unsure of next steps.

The deadline to register for this class is Friday, April 19 at 5:00 PM CDT.
