Stories Matter: Response Through Film

Stories Matter: Response Through Film

Presented by Austin Film Society at Austin Public

Stories Matter: Response Through Film is a film event showcasing short films by local filmmakers that address various social issues that are increasingly relevant, given the current political climate. Through the power of storytelling, films can provide a window into an environment unbeknownst to others and create solidarity, sparking thought, discussion and change in the real world. This event will provide a platform for filmmakers to screen their films and the issues affecting our communities with a moderated panel in front of a studio audience. The program will take place at Austin Public on the evening of February 8, 2017. It will also be cablecast on Austin Public channel 16 and stream online, on the Austin Public website, here.

Filmmakers are welcomed to submit short films under 20 minutes and of any genre. They should address social and/or political issues that are relevant and timely, but may have been made at any time. Some possible topics include, but are not limited to, issues of race, gender, immigration, criminal justice, education, the environment, and health, for example. The deadline to submit is January 13, 2017 at 6PM CST.
