Celebration of Diverse Literary Voices in Austin and Texas

Presented by KAZI Book Review at Huston-Tillotson University Davage-Durden Student Union

Come hear the words and inspiration from some of the most dynamic and culturally diverse authors in Austin and Texas at the Celebration of Diverse Literary Authors in Austin and Texas.  The event will feature readings from Jacob Grovey, author of  DANCE OF THE BROKEN, a novel about a young black girl in Austin pursuing her dream of becoming a ballerina despite the obstacles, Antonio Ruiz-Camacho, author of BAREFOOT DOGS, a short story collection revolving around the impact of tragedy on a Mexican family; Marrick Armstrong (writing as Matthias Miles), author of WILL OF THE WISPS, a novel about young black professionals in Houston searching for meaning in their lives;  and Chitra Banaerjee Divakaruni, author of BEFORE WE VISIT THE GODDESS, the story of about three generations of mothers and daughters overcoming family turmoil from India to Texas.  The event will also feature panel discussions on Social Justice in Crime Fiction, Black Intellectual Thought in Education, and The Emergence of Mexican American Literature.
