"The Stars Come Out" - Stephen Williamson, Principal Clarinet of the Chicago Symphony

Presented by Austin Symphonic Band at Austin ISD Performing Arts Center

The Austin Symphonic Band presents an exciting concert featuring Stephen Williamson, Principal Clarinetist of the Chicago Symphony. Mr. Williamson will perform the Concertino in E-Flat Major, Op. 26, for Clarinet with wind band accompaniment by Carl Maria von Weber. Additional selections include pieces by Copland, Whitacre and local composer Ryan George.

Stephen Williamson attended Reagan High School and studied with Austin clarinetist and ASB member Nancy North. He is a graduate of the Eastman School of Music and the Juilliard School, and studied at the Hochschule der Künste in Berlin. He was formerly the principal clarinetist of the New York Philharmonic (2013-14) and the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra (2003-11). He is currently the principal clarinetist of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra under Maestro Riccardo Muti.
