Las Piñatas ATX

Las Piñatas ATX

Presented by Las Piñatas ATX at Emma S. Barrientos Mexican American Cultural Center.

After the tremendous success we had last year in promoting awareness of Austin’s fast-changing and historically rich East Side, we are once again inviting city-dwellers, both old and new, to come out on el Día de los Muertos to break piñatas with us at the Mexican American Cultural Center. This is an event that I created, with the help of a small group of friends and family, to help make a lasting impact in the Austin community. This year, I have teamed up with Latinos in Architecture, the Mexican American Cultural Center, and the Cultural Arts Division of Austin to help grow this event for many years to come.

The funds we raised last year for the festival allowed us to buy more than 200 piñatas from Jumpolín, a local piñataría that was unjustly demolished. Your generous donations will help us once again buy up a ton of piñatas from local piñateros for kids and families from all over the city to demolish to their hearts’ content. The more donations we receive, the more piñatas we can buy. All remaining proceeds will go towards the Latinos in Architecture Scholarship Fund.
