VSA Texas Taster Workshop in Audio Description for Performance & Visual Arts
Thursday, November 10, 2016
10am-2pm
Lamar Senior Activity Center
2874 Shoal Crest
Austin, TX 78705
We need individuals who are glib, quick, witty; have a creative vocabulary; like theatre, dance, movies, museums, etc.; and who would like to get trained as an audio describer. Audio Description is the art of describing the visual aspects of a live performance, movie or museum exhibit not normally accessible to a person who is blind or visually impaired. Come find out what it is all about!
There is ample parking including overflow parking. Dress is casual. Please bring your sack lunch. Beverages and snacks will be provided by VSA Texas. A special thanks to Lamar Senior Activity Center for providing the space.
Presenter: Celia Hughes, Executive Director of VSA Texas, is a trained audio describer and co-founder of the Audio Description Coalition, who has been active for many years with Audio Description International and the Leaderships Exchange in Arts & Disability (LEAD) Conference produced annually by the Kennedy Center.
Participants will receive:
Audio Description resource materials
Newly-updated Audio Description standards
Sample hands-on experiences in Audio Description
