“We want to produce a live storytelling event that feeds the soul,” says Christine Hoang, Founding Producing Director of Color Arc Productions. “So we asked ourselves: ‘What’s something that heals you?’ The answer was universal – food!”

Seven storytellers will share humorous, heartfelt, heart breaking, but also healing stories inspired by “comfort food.” Our storytellers include a Netflix dating show celebrity, a millennial comedian & filmmaker, a celebrated Austin playwright, a journalist turned mosaic artist, a writer & tarot card reader, a retired Navy Chief, and an 82-year old Vietnamese American grandmother. Six are local Austinites. The grandmother will be flying in from New Orleans to share her childhood story of growing up in rural Vietnam in the 1940s.

The night will end with a screening of the trailer for PIZZA MY HEART, Color Arc Productions’ new comedy short film directed by Elizabeth V. Newman, written by Christine Hoang, starring Christine Hoang and Vanessa Hoang Hughes, with original songs by Tyler Mabry. In PIZZA MY HEART, a Pizza Telegram Singing Delivery Specialist (PTSD Specialist) delivers comfort food with a song to a heartbroken customer who turns out to be a 12-year old girl. After the world premiere screening of the PIZZA MY HEART trailer, Color Arc Productions will kick off a crowdfunding campaign to raise finishing funds to cover post production costs and film festival submission fees.
