atCentral: James Comey and “Central Park West: A crime novel”

Presented by The Library Foundation and Austin Public Library and BookPeople at Austin Central Library

Former CIA director James Comey will present his debut novel, “Central Park West” at the Austin Central Library at 7 p.m. on June 7.

He will be joined in conversation with Texas Tribune CEO Sonal Shah.

The fiction debut from the former FBI director takes readers deep inside New York’s world of lawyers and investigators working to solve a murder while navigating the treacherous currents of modern politics and the mob. When a years-long case against a powerful mobster finally cracks and an unimpeachable witness takes the stand, federal prosecutor Nora Carleton looks forward to putting the defendant away for good. The mobster, though, has other plans.

Comey based the character of Nora on his two daughters: Maurene, who is chief of Violent and Organized Crime in the Southern District of New York U.S. Attorney’s office, and Abby, who, like Nora, is gay.

“Central Park West: A Crime Novel” is published by Mysterious Press.

This free event is presented by The Library Foundation, Austin Public Library, and BookPeople.
