Thomas Motley

Thomas Motley is Professor of Art and Art History and the Leading Faculty member in Drawing at Richland College, Dallas.  Motley is an artist and writer who has received numerous art and teaching fellowships in the United States and abroad. In 2014, he developed a keen interest in Umlauf’s practice and has been studying the drawings intensively in preparation for this Insights talk, “A Sculptor’s Eye: The Drawings of Charles Umlauf.”

Insights increases the appreciation of Charles Umlauf’s work and sculpture in general through lectures from visiting artists and scholars. Usually accompanying the museum’s newest exhibition, INSIGHTS encourages the development of critical perspectives and provides deeper understanding of art. Free and open to the public. This program is partially funded by City of Austin Core Funding 2015-2016.
