Embodying Shakti - Kali

Embodying Shakti - Kali

Presented by Yoga Yoga at Yoga Yoga North

Saturday, September 24, 10:30am – 5:00pm
with Ana Pilar & Jamie at North

During this one day retreat, you will encounter the Goddess Kali in a dynamic and playful blend of storytelling, yoga and drum-guided visual meditation. By embodying Her in the physical (yoga asana) realm, and journeying to meet Her in the metaphysical (guided meditation) realm, you’ll begin to recognize Kali’s powerful energy within and without yourself, as well as start incorporating personal practices that will keep you connected to this potent feminine force for healing and growth.

Our time together will also include discussion of tantric philosophy, yoga practice, ecstatic dance, traditional food and drink sacred to Kali, mantra, and plenty of time to process and integrate your experiences with the teachers. A delicious and healthy lunch is included, provided by Natural Epicurean. You’ll leave feeling empowered, awake and alive, with simple and effective takeaway rituals that can become the building blocks of a deeper relationship with this powerful archetype.

Kali is terrifying and intoxicating, magnetic and repulsive. Her dark and fierce visage is portrayed with thirsty tongue, fangs dripping blood, a necklace of human skulls and a skirt of severed arms. Kali calls to our most primal nature – that of the Devouring Mother, who slays demons and eats her own young so that they may be transformed.

The enigmatic nature of this visceral and enduring Goddess holds the keys to clearing our personal karmas and egoic attachments, as well as the power to devour the demons of environmental devastation, contaminated food supplies, violence against women and girls, and other problems that plague our time
