Facing What's Left Behind: Discussion about Grief

Presented by Save Austin's Cemeteries at Oakwood Cemetery Chapel

Save Austin’s Cemeteries invites you to attend a group discussion on grief at the Oakwood Cemetery Chapel.

In 2022, journalist Anderson Cooper released a podcast titled “All There Is,” produced by CNN.Anderson Cooper takes us on a deeply personal exploration of loss and grief. He starts recording while packing up the apartment of his late mother Gloria Vanderbilt. Going through her journals and keepsakes, as well as things left behind by his father and brother, Cooper begins a series of emotional and moving conversations about the people we lose, the things they leave behind, and how to live on – with loss, with laughter, and with love.

Representatives from The Christi Center will lead this seminar style discussion on the universal experience described by Anderson Cooper in the first episode of the podcast titled “Facing What’s Left Behind”.

The Christi Center is an Austin nonprofit offering hope after the death of a loved one, through grief support that is free, ongoing, and peer-based. Christi Neville, LPC, is a seasoned grief professional on staff at The Christi Center, overseeing grief support groups. Leslie Inman is a Peer Facilitator at The Christi Center who compassionately helps lead those groups. Together, Leslie and Christi will offer reflection on this important aspect of bereavement.Listen to the 33 minute podcast in advance on most podcast streaming services.RSVP for this free community event.
