What’s the first thing that comes to mind when, you think of Bollywood? Bright costumes? The large groups of people breaking into spontaneous song and dance? All this and more will be happening, August 6th from 6 p.m. till 8 p.m., when downtown Austin will erupt in a wash of color and music courtesy of the 3rd annual Bollywood Day, hosted by Agni The Dance Company and Agni Entertainment—in collaboration with the City of Austin.

With Bollywood’s influence being felt across America, now it is the loan star state’s turn to feel the beat. This year the State Capitol, will play host to the free celebrations, and showcase the best of Indian culture, cuisine, clothing and music. This year’s festival highlight will be an amazing record-breaking Bollywood dance attempt, where dancers and non-dancers alike can take part in one massive group dance number.

This year’s goal is to have 3,000 people dance in unison, a number the great people of Austin can shatter with ease! Bollywood Day is all about having fun so if you have two left feet or the memory of a fish, no need to panic – the amazing members from Agni The Dance Company will be there to teach you the moves on the main stage throughout the event. For those of you who want to get a head start, you can practice at home with a selection of great videos at the Agni Dance YouTube channel.

The festivities will take place on the steps of the State Capitol, with ample parking located at the Capitol Visitors Parking Garage located off the intersection of San Jacinto Blvd and E 12th St.
