TEXAS FOCUS: DAYS OF HEAVEN

TEXAS FOCUS: DAYS OF HEAVEN

Presented by Austin Film Festival at Bullock Texas State History Museum

Join us on Thursday, August 25th, for our final Texas Focus screening of Days of Heaven.

A film with expressive images of nature, depicting life in America at the turn of the century. Told through the voice of a child, this is the story of Bill and Abby, lovers who travel to the Texas Panhandle to harvest crops for a wealthy farmer. Bill encourages Abby to claim the fortune of the dying farmer by tricking him into a false marriage.

This is Terrence Malick’s second film, which took him three years to edit. Though not a commercial success, it did win an Academy Award for Best Cinematography.

Though this film is set in Texas, exterior images were shot in Canada.

The Texas Focus film series is a monthly series presented by the Bullock Texas State History Museum. May through August, films are co-presented by the Austin Film Festival in association with the Texas Film Commission.
