Madrigals and More

Presented by Beerthoven Concert Series and One Ounce Opera at Austin Saengerrunde

For the opening of its third and expansive season, Beerthoven welcomes back the eclectic singing troupe One Ounce Opera for a program of Madrigals and More featuring songs of the Renaissance by John Dowland and Thomas Morley as well as Baroque opera arias by Monteverdi and his contemporaries. They will be joined by Guitarist Celil Refik Kaya, winner of the 2016 Boston Guitarfest Competition. Enjoy snacks and a twelve ounce beer with One Ounce Opera. Mingle with the performers on our rooftop patio during intermissions, all included with admission.

For the first time ever Beerthoven will be giving two performances per program; Friday, August 26th at 7:30pm as well as Sunday August 28th at 3pm!

Beerthoven events are family-friendly; kids and youth are welcome! Student tickets are offered for $10 at the door.

Sometimes you wanna go where everybody knows your name! From now until August 28th, buy a Season Subscription for a discounted pass to all of our programs. We’ll keep your name on our Will Call list all year long:

The Beerthoven Concert Series is a down-to-earth, approachable celebration of classical song and chamber music; a quirky mixture of Oktoberfest and Bach Fest, often in unique and intimate settings. Beerthoven finds its inspiration from the musical and festive events at the Austin Saengerrunde as well as the private “salon” concerts of Beethoven’s own time. All Beerthoven events feature snacks, drinks, and live classical music, all included with admission. There is no backstage area here; audience members may even find themselves standing in line for beer with the performers. The Beerthoven Concert Series is a Sponsored Project of the Austin Creative Alliance. Beerthoven is made possible through the support of the Austin Saengerrunde and individual benefactors.
