The dream of the 90’s is alive in Austin this summer.What if a younger generation tackled the same subversive comedy from a diverse perspective that dominated primetime TV in the early 90s? What if we found we were having the same conversations about politics, sexuality, race, and gender almost three decades after “In Living Color” aired?

What if we could time-travel back to the 90s and watch a LIVE episode of “DOPER THAN DOPE,” a bold, edgy comedy variety show that features a DJ, fly girl dance team, and sketch comedy featuring Austin’s rising stars in the comedy, music, and theater scenes?

“DOPER THAN DOPE” is a scripted sketch comedy show inspired by the ground-breaking 90s hit “In Living Color,” produced by The Institution Theater, Heckle Her, and Base Reality Productions.

Visual Voice Interpreting will provide ASL interpretation for our second performance, Saturday July 16th, 8pm.

“DOPER THAN DOPE” stars Maggie Maye (Conan),  Jarrett King (Topdog/Underdog, Clybourne Park), Da’Shade Moonbeam (Blacklisted Individuals), Chelsea Bunn, Taji Senior, Carl Gonzales, Andie Flores, and Kenah Benefield. The DOPE fly girl dance team features Christine Hoang, Makeda Easter, Megan Mowry, and Leslie Lozano.The DOPE creative team includes Tanya Olalde (Costume Design), Andrew Hatcher (Production Stage Manager), Carissa McAtee (Choreographer), DJ Mahealani (DJ), Ronnita Miller (Head Writer), Jesus Valles (Contributing Writer), Adrienne Dawes (Director/Co-Producer), Scott Hearne (Co-Producer), and The Institution Theater  (Co-Producer).
