Doctuh Mistuh Productions in association with Austin Playhouse is pleased to announce auditions for the regional premiere of NEVERMORE, THE IMAGINARY LIFE AND MYSTERIOUS DEATH OF EDGAR ALLAN POE. 

We are looking for SEVEN (7) ACTORS WHO SING (5 men/2 women or 4 men/3 women).  Six (6) of the actors will play multiple characters in Poe’s life, so we are looking for performers who can perform a broad range of characters, vocally and physically. 

Edgar Allan Poe – High Tenor

Eliza Poe – Legit Soprano

Fanny Allan – Alto

Henry Poe – Bari-tenor

Jock Allan – High Baritone

Rufus Griswold – Bari-tenor

Musical Styles in NEVERMORE

“The text, largely sung-through, has a storybook feel. The recorded music borrows from the creepier side of cabaret and music hall traditions, with the occasional foray into rock balladry.” NY TIMES

Style of the Production:  Storybook-feel taking elements of Victorian melodrama, Brecht, and gothic drama.

All actors will be compensated.

Run dates are October 20-September 5.  Rehearsals will primarily be in October with some preliminary musical work in Late August.
