Gather before dusk. Screening begins at full darkness. Roughly 8:40 p.m. for the screening in July and 8:20 in August

AUSTIN, Texas—June 25, 2016—Living Springs, documentary series about the history, science, culture and spiritual practices of Barton Springs will host a free public screening featuring short videos from their on-going Barton Springs series, on Tuesday, July 19th. The screening will feature, “Cleaning Day” and “Barton’s Four Springs” More news on the August screening as the date approaches.

July 19th screening:

“Lifeguards,” is a playful behind-the-scenes look at the unique job of the men and women in red.

“The Reflecting Pool” recounts Barton from 1912-1962 through the memories of those who lived the history. The short film includes wonderful archive photos, film and original historic re-creations. This piece looks into the little known social history of the Springs, including the segregation and eventual integration of the Springs in 1962.

As a bonus, enjoy the amazing underwater world of Barton Springs accompanied by original music created especially for Living Springs by composer Graham Reynolds.

Bring a chair or blanket to sit on. Gather at dusk or before. Screening begins at full darkness. After the screening, take a free swim in the Springs and join in the “Keep Austin Weird” tradition of howling at the full moon. No rain date.
