Ann Johnson
Converse: Real Talk
May 7 – August 18th, 2016
Ann Johnson wants to have face-to-face conversation. In an installation that resembles an outdoor park, visitors are invited to sit and discuss the words dangling delicately from her tree sculptures. Through experimental intaglio, text prints, and found objects, Johnson addresses African American genealogy, folklore and legacy. Her delicate sensitivity to texture and uniquely combined elements create moments that feel intimate while simultaneously addressing broad social issues. Johnson’s exhibit will entice and provoke.
