When Austin WebFest began in 2013 we were the fifth festival of our kind in the US and the eleventh in the world. Today there are over fifty festivals of its kind. Austin WebFest remains the First and Still ONLY Digital Series (Web Series) festival in Texas. We are an international festival that brings to Austin different cultures from around the globe. 

Austin WebFest is in it’s third year and there are no signs that it will be slowing anytime soon. This year we have the addition of a Youth in Film Panel that will segue into a Youth in Film Digital Series Competition in Year 4. We are also adding a Digital Screenplay Competition for those who have a digital series screenplay but have not had the opportunity to shoot their series. Finally we are changing our time criteria from the maximum 13 minutes this year up to 22 minutes for 2017 so we can tap into the television market. There is no other Web Series Festival attempting any of this.

Most-recently Austin WebFest has joined forces with Austin Creative Alliance to reside under ACA’s Fiscal Sponsorship umbrella. This will allow us to apply for grants and boost the festival to the next level. The ultimate goal for Austin WebFest is to get filmmakers in front of the people that can help them advance their creative work. Distribution has always been a main goal of the festival and as such the Grand Prize for 2016 is an All-Expense paid trip to Marseille, France to compete against nine other Grand Prize winners from other digital series festivals.
