This all-day workshop and performance series celebrates the rhythms and movements of the African Diaspora, featuring international choreographer Ismael Kouyaté, Houston’s own Kouman Ke’le’ African Drum & Dance Ensemble, Lannaya Drum & Dance, and an array of local performers and troupes.

9:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m. – Beginners’/Children’s African Dance Class taught by Christina Gerard
10:00 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. – Qi Gong/Afro-Fusion Dance taught by t. negresco lyles
11:45 a.m. – 1:15 p.m. – Afro Cuban Dance taught by Maya Berry Ph.D.
1:30 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. – History & Song Class taught by Ismael Kouyaté
3:15 p.m. – 4:45 p.m. – Advanced Guinea Dance taught by Ismael Kouyaté
8:00 p.m. – Evening Performance with all instructors, featuring Ismael Kouyaté, Kouman Ke’le’ African Dance & Drum Ensemble, Lannaya Drum & Dance Ensemble, Maya Berry Ph.D, t. negresco lyles and a host of other performers and ensembles.
