Austin, Texas – Making a triumphant in-person return, it’s the GRA Camp Rock-A-Rama! This summer day camp is dedicated to empowering girls, trans and gender non-conforming youth ages 8-17. At camp they learn an instrument, form a band, write an original song, and play a show, all in one week’s time. Come join us at ABGB on Saturday July 16 at 12p while we rock out to the sweet sound of our campers\’ original songs and stories.

In addition to receiving instruction on musical performance and songwriting, campers learn about self agency, advocacy, allyship, and representation and respect. An intrinsically cooperative endeavor, working with others through GRA’s unique creative process builds confidence. Many campers and volunteers come away from this experience with mentors and peer friendships that endure for years after.

GRA is a social justice non-profit organization dedicated to empowering women, girls, trans and gender-expansive individuals through music education, mentorship and self-care. Through mentorship and creative expression, we aim to provide a safe space for folks to try new things, gain leadership and collaboration skills, share their stories, and be heard. GRA firmly believes financial, physical, and social barriers shouldn\’t prevent anyone from gaining the self-esteem, self-efficacy and agency that comes from creative expression and strives to help our campers move forward to create a positive social change in our local communities and the world at large. GRA knows it’s hard to feel empowered with an empty belly so in 2020 GRA started Operation Lunch Box, which has since provided over 200,000 prepared nutritious meals to Austin families facing food insecurity.
