GAY U.S.A.

GAY U.S.A.

Presented by Austin Film Society at AFS Cinema

Made as a direct response to Anita Bryant’s anti-gay crusade, pioneering gay filmmaker Arthur J. Bressan, Jr.’s GAY U.S.A captures the spirit and politics of the liberation movement at a crucial moment in history. Shot at five different Pride parades across the United States on the same day in 1977, GAY U.S.A. is a testament to just how far we’ve come—and how far we still have left to go. Presented alongside Bressan’s rare 1972 Pride short, COMING OUT. Newly restored.
