Auditions for RUNNING BEAR

Auditions for RUNNING BEAR

Presented by Hyde Park Theatre at Hyde Park Theatre

Hyde Park Theatre is holding auditions for a role in Running Bear, a new play written by Raul Garza and directed by Rosalind Faires.

PLOT SYNOPSIS: Lucas has amassed the coveted middle-aged-man spoils: an adoring wife, a devoted son, a successful-but-not excessive career. His return to his hometown for professional recognition promises to be a well-earned victory lap. Emily seeks solitude and relief from the weight of the world hoisted on her teenage shoulders. Her impulsive retreat to a deserted bridge seems like a passable, if not ideal, solution. When these strangers intersect on the footbridge Lucas designed in a suburban Texas park, they are forced to resolve the impasse by confronting past traumas and fading dreams.

HPT is seeking actors for the role of Emily, a 17-year-old dreamer and a risk-taker. The actor who plays Emily should be of Afro-Latin, Latinx or Black descent.

Auditions will be a reading from the script; sides will be sent in advance. Auditions will be held in the evening on Monday, April 11 by appointment only at HPT (511 W. 43rd Street). Callbacks will take place on Tuesday, April 12.

To schedule an audition, please email Rosalind Faires at rosalind.faires@gmail.com.

Running Bear will run Thursday, June 16 — Saturday, July 16 at HPT. Rehearsals will begin in mid-May. The role will be compensated.
