Issa Nyaphaga is an artist who has used creativity to help him overcome great trauma. He was jailed and persecuted in Cameroon for drawing political cartoons. Now he raises funds with his art to bring wheelchairs, fresh water and other development projects to his village.

Issa uses his art to empower people through teaching creative art classes. Participants take home a piece of art they would like to decorate with as well as a therapeutic experience that can help enhance their physical, mental, and emotional well-being.

The following night Issa will hold a fundraiser where he will perform a live painting to music as part of the WEST Side Studio Tour.
