200 FT McBee Elementary School Mural

200 FT McBee Elementary School Mural

Presented by Blue Cow Studio at McBee Elementary School

Local Austin Artist Ethan Azarian with students from McBee Elementary School on Braker Lane in North Austin have hand painted a 200 foot long mural on a retaining outdoor wall on the school grounds. This experience has  provided a special opportunity for the students and has validated their contributions as artists and given them a sense of ownership for the mural and for the story it tells about the school and community.  It’s an important  step forward in the partnership between the school community and the local community, and serves the public good by covering a problem area with a great public work of art for all to enjoy as they drive by the school’s campus. The mural project was initiated by Mary Rudig and is supported and sponsored by North Austin Creates, Austin Creative Alliance and individual donors through Amplify Austin. Special thanks to the school’s Principal Maggie De La Rosa, Librarian Heather Stephens and Art teacher Megan Zaner and the students of McBee Elementary.

Come help us celebrate the completion of the mural on Monday May 2nd at 9am. A brief Artist’s talk and introduction will take place at the reception in the Library at McBee Elementary.  Following the talk there will be a tour of the Mural with the artist. Refreshments will be provided.
