Golden Afternoon, a responsive art installation inspired by Texas wildflowers and Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, was recently installed in the Seaholm neighborhood. Austin Art in Public Places is hosting a slightly mad Tea Party to celebrate – and you are invited!

Enjoy tea and cookies with the artists, Rick Lin and Shagun Singh (Urban Matter Inc.), and learn more about this exciting new public artwork for the Seaholm EcoDistrict. Pick up your own packet of Texas wildflower seeds and Alice in Wonderland activity books, courtesy of the Harry Ransom Center.

Golden Afternoon is a responsive public art installation in the parking structure of the Seaholm Redevelopment Project. Inspired by the wildflowers of Texas, the installation mimics a hanging garden that has overgrown from the flower beds on the ground level, down the open stairwell, and making its way into the parking lot. Reminiscent of a trip down the rabbit hole from Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, the artwork experience is heightened by lighting which responds to people moving up and down the stairs.
