AUSTIN — Do the spirits speak? Find out when The Austin Séance appears during the
Halloween week at The Vortex, 2307 Manor, for a series of séance demonstration.
Comprised of séance facilitators Albert Lucio and Jake Cordero, The Austin Séance
demonstrates tools used by working mediums and employs those tools in modern recreations of old-time spirit sessions. The Austin Séance has been featured in Texas Monthly, NPR’s Texas Standard radio program, TV broadcasts and more.

Austin Monthly calls them “devilishly charming” and The Austin Chronicle says “Jake Cordero and Albert Lucio give you the experience of contacting the departed.” The Austin Séance pair have spent years conducting séance demonstrations in venues all across Texas — demonstrations that NPR’s Texas Standard describes as “part history lesson, part exploration … not a scripted show but a communal experience.”

The séance sessions at The VORTEX will be conducted in the spooky Pony Shed, located in the courtyard, from Thursday, Oct. 28, through Sunday, Oct. 31. And don’t forget, there’s great food and mixed drinks available at Patrizi’s and The Butterfly Bar . You can bring drinks into the séances, but please no food. If you’re ordering dinner, plan on arriving at least an hour and a halfearly.

Jake Cordero, an award-winning journalist, has reported on everything from
cult murders in Mexico to spirit hauntings in Fort Worth. He is a longtime
