Join pianist John Novacek and The Austin Symphony Orchestra in celebrating America’s beauty through performances of works by American composers paired with symphonic photochoreography by Westwater Arts this May!
Symphonic photochoreography by Westwater Arts
Celebrate America’s beauty with compositions written by American composers, inspired by the sights and sounds of the place we call home. Copland’s The Heiress Suite, created from the Oscar winning score to The Heiress film, opens the evening program. Pianist John Novacek first joins the Symphony for Gould’s Interplay, and after intermission, for Gershwin’s famous Rhapsody in Blue, which combines jazz rhythms with classical elements. Putting nature’s beauty into song is the Grand Canyon Suite by Grofé, the conclusion to just some of the breathtaking landscapes we get to experience.
AARON COPLAND – Suite from The Heiress
MORTON GOULD – Interplay
GEORGE GERSHWIN – Rhapsody in Blue
FERDE GROFÉ – Grand Canyon Suite
