Crowns by Regina Taylor is a family-friendly live performance about a coming of age 17-year–old girl who is on a self-destructive path running the mean Englewood streets of Chicago. The teen returns to Chicago with new eyes after her grandmother introduce her to her circle of “hat queens.” Each of these “hat queens” own over 100 hats, and each hat holds a story of a wedding, funeral, baptism as the women share their stories of how they moved through life’s struggles.
Performances: November 12, 13, 14, 19, 20, 21. All shows will be held at the Boyd Vance Theater at the Carver Library-Austin location, 1161 Angelina Street, Austin, 78702. Show times 7:30 p.m. – matinees 3:00 p.m.
