Audition Notice:  TexARTS 2016-2017 Professional Series Summer Shows

TexARTS, located in Lakeway, TX, welcomes members of the Actors’ Equity Association and non-union performers to audition for the upcoming 2016 – 2017 season from 11am-6pm on Saturday, March 12 and Sunday, March 13, 2016. 

The season will include:

MY WAY: A MUSICAL TRIBUTE TO FRANK SINATRA

First Rehearsal:  Monday, June 27, 2016.

Performances – July 15 – 17 and July 22 – 24, 2016.  Shows at 7:30 pm on Fridays and Saturdays and 2 p.m. on Sundays.

Seeking:

Man #1 – 30-40’s with a deep/rich strong velvety baritone voice. 

Man #2 – 25-40’s. A 1940’s big band “crooner” with a strong legit lyric baritone voice and be an excellent part singer. Actor should also have a natural and unaffected flair for comedy. Moves well.

Woman #1 –  30-40’s.  She is a “classy dame” who drips with style, sophistication, and class. A strong mezzo soprano who can also belt. Her vocal style is based on great “torch singers” like Ella Fitzgerald, Lena Horne, and Judy Garland. This role sings through a wide range vocally and must also be a capable part singer. Should move well.

Woman #2 – 20’s-35.  She should be able to project an energetic and youthful sexuality. Woman #2 is also a mezzo but does sing some soprano parts. She too needs to be a capable part singer. A strong dancer with tap skills is a plus.

First Rehearsal:  Monday, July 25, 2016.

Performances – Aug. 12 – 14 and Aug. 19 – 21, 2016.  Shows at 7:30 pm on Fridays and Saturdays and 2 p.m. on Sundays.

Seeking:

Natalie Haller (Early 20’s): a mechanic.

Chad: a great-lookin’, motorcycling, guitar-playing, leather-jacketed roustabout.

Jim Haller (mid 40’s-50’s): Natalie’s widowed father.

Sylvia (mid 40’s): the no-nonsense, African-American owner of Sylvia’s Honky-Tonk.

Lorraine: Sylvia’s 16 year-old daughter.

Dennis: a young, awkward, aspiring dentist.

Miss Sandra: the beautiful, intellectual caretaker of the town’s museum.

Mayor Matilda Hyde (mid 40’s-50’s): the town’s conservative mayor.

Dean Hyde: Matilda’s 16 year-old son. He has grown up at a military boarding school.

Sheriff Earl (mid 40’s-50’s): the law in town. A man of not many words

Ensemble

Please prepare 16-32 bars of a ballad and 16-32 bars of an up-tempo song that shows range and personality and is within the style of the show(s). Bring sheet music in the appropriate key. An accompanist will be provided.

Please bring two resumes and headshots.  AEA members should bring proof of Equity membership. EMC actors will also be seen. Nonunion actors are welcome and encouraged to attend.  Actors should be 18 years+.
