Auditions for Lewis Black play

Presented by Paradox Players at 1st Unitarian Universalist Church of Austin

Synopsis:  It’s the summer of 1981.  The Colemans are preparing for their daughter Courtney’s wedding at their consevative, upper-class suburban home.  Her mom, Delia, is making sure that everything is perfect.  The groom is perfect, the dress is perfect, and the decorations (assuming they arrive) will be perfect.  Then, like in any good farce the doorbell rings.  And all hell breaks loose.  So much for the perfect. 

 

Roles: 

Doc Coleman- The father.  A general practitioner.  A charming, eccentric conservative.  Usually straight-up.

Delia Coleman- The mother.  In a constant state of panic.

P.B.- Youngest teenage daughter.  Loosest in family.

Courtney- Middle daughter. Twenty-something.  Bride and freelance writer.  Has just published her first novel which was almost successful. 

Melanie- Oldest daughter. Twenties to early thirties.  Nurse.  Attractive and psychotic.

Ryan- Twenty-something.  Until seven months ago, he had lived with Courtney for two and a half years.

Harper- Twenties to early thirties.  Logical and wealthy.  Engaged to Courtney.

Auditions March 8, 10

Where: First Unitarian Universalist Church. 4700 Grover Avenue; Austin, TX 78756.

Time: Tuesday, March 8, 7-9 p.m. & Thursday, March 10, 7-9 p.m. with possible callbacks Saturday, March 12, 2-4pm.

Show Dates: May 6 – May 22

Rehearsals will be primarily Tuesday/Thursday evenings, Saturday afternoons beginning March 22.
